Guilloche Chronograph - Blauw.
Guilloche Blue hand-guilloché is part of the Staudt men's collection. The watch combines a blue hand-guilloché dial with 18 ct rose-gold case and a alligator leather strap. The proportions, dial layout and finishing are designed to feel calm on the wrist rather than loud from a distance. It is a Staudt for someone who values restraint, craft and the quiet pleasure of mechanical detail.
Inside is a Swiss automatic chronograph movement. The watch is assembled and checked in our atelier in Ootmarsum, the Netherlands.
The technique - Guilloché
A royal technique from the sixteenth century.
Guilloché is a decorative technique from the 16th century, originally used to symbolise the position of the sovereign. In the 18th century, Abraham-Louis Breguet created the first pocket watch with a frosted guilloché dial.
One dial takes three days to make. The guilloché patterns are cut by hand on an antique rose engine: the cutter does not move across the dial, but the dial moves against the cutter. A solid 925 silver dial is fixed in shellac to an arbor with rosettes of 72 notches. Slow, meticulous work.
