About Staudt

This is where it begins.

Simply pause for a moment.

Fewer watches, more attention.

Staudt Chronometrie is a Dutch watch brand from Ootmarsum. We design and assemble mechanical watches for people who prefer restraint over visible status. Each watch is made in small numbers, with Dutch sobriety, visible craftsmanship and attention to what you see, feel and wear.

Our story

“Less is harder.”

Everything is considered. Silence too.

Before Yvo Staudt made watches, his life revolved around classical music. It taught him to listen to what happens between the notes: nuance, depth, and the silence that lets a composition breathe. Sometimes the tension comes from what is left out. From that thought he started making his first watch. Not as a search for more, but for exactly enough. That idea is still at the heart of Staudt.

How Staudt beganThe story behind Staudt

Good to know

Is Staudt a Dutch watch brand?

Yes. Staudt Chronometrie is a Dutch watch brand from Ootmarsum, in Twente. We design, develop and assemble our watches in the Netherlands. Depending on the model, we use Swiss mechanical movements that are finished, adapted or combined with parts made specifically for Staudt.

Where are Staudt watches made?

Our watches are assembled in our atelier in Ootmarsum, where design, technique, quality control and personal attention come together.

What does Staudt Chronometrie mean?

Chronometry is the art and science of measuring time accurately. For us, it refers to more than precision alone: a watch must be technically right, but it should also carry meaning.

Who is Yvo Staudt?

Yvo Staudt is the founder and designer of Staudt Chronometrie. During his conservatory studies in Italy he made his first watch. What began as one personal project grew into a Dutch watch brand.

Can you personalise a Staudt watch?

Yes. Many Staudt watches can be made personal with an engraving, family crest, signature, special dial or another meaningful detail.

Where can I view Staudt watches?

You can view our watches in the Staudt boutique in Ootmarsum and at carefully selected retailers. We do not sell new watches as ordinary webshop purchases, because we prefer to take the time to choose the right watch together.
